WAGING BATTLE IN THE WAR ZONE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICEAny counsel who has fought the power of the Government--its unlimited resources, its ability to send wave after wave of fresh troops to battle, and its unconscionable use of disreputable, highly paid informants--knows that the playing field of criminal justice is not level.
Punch and Jurists strives to bring some balance back to the scales of justice by arming defense attorneys with instant access to the latest developments in the field of criminal law at a reasonable cost. There are no issues we are afraid to tackle and no inequities we won't expose. By quoting the words of judges, our staff uncovers the inconsistencies and perplexities of criminal law as expressed in the daily flow of new decisions. We cover a broad range of topics; but, unlike other legal publications, we attempt to identify the trendsetting legal arguments; highlight the winning strategies; and make available the most comprehensive and current legal research resources that are available.
PUNCH AND JURISTS - THE WEEKLY NEWSLETTEREach week, the staff of Punch and Jurists reads and analyzes every Federal criminal case that is published in the Federal Reporter and the Federal Supplement (an average of more than 70 new criminal cases per week). Thus, our publication gives the busy criminal defense lawyer a time-saving alternative to poring through the thousands of pages of new decisions published each week. Through our digests of significant the decisions reported each week, we help make a difference - without the need for expensive collections of case books or the costly alternative of a large rsearch staff.
Punch and Jurists presents its lively summaries of the most important new cases in an easy-to-read and lively format. In each issue, Punch and Jurists puts the cases it reviews in context by showing what other courts have written about the topic or by pointing out compelling legal arguments often contained in the dissenting and concurring opinions or in the oft-overlooked footnotes. We keep a special eye out for those cases that present some outrageous, controversial, funny or macabre position.
UNPUBLISHED DECISIONSAt our site on the Internet, we maintain a special compilation of unpublished decisions. This important collection of cases that they don't want you to see often contains the hidden keys to a successful brief or motion; and it is updated frequently.
BRIEFS AND MOTIONSAlso at our site on the Internet, we maintain an extensive collection of noteworthy briefs, motions and other pleading sent to us by our subscribers from all over the country. These pleadings cover some of the most important, current and controversial criminal law topics - and they give the defense attorney the benefit of reviewing a tried and proven approach of other lawyers.
KEY WEBSITESTo assist the criminal defense bar, Punch and Jurists has prepared a special listing of Key Websites where Subscribers can instantly tap into some of the extraordinary data relating to criminal law that is available on the Internet. The range of legal materials that exists on the Internet is enormous; but it can be time-consuming, frustrating and even inordinately difficult to find the precise Website that is needed. Punch and Jurists realizes that most attorneys don't have the time to spend hundreds of hours finding and marking the various Websites where they can find the equivalent of a full-fledged law library - that is absolutely free. Now, by tapping into this feature lawyers will be able to save both time and money and instantly find the best and quickest sources of legal research that are vital to a case without the necessity of maintaining a large, expensive collection of law books.
THE RESEARCH RESOURCES OF PUNCH AND JURISTSOne of Punch and Jurists ' greatest assets its enormous library of significant criminal cases. Each week, as our staff prepares the weekly edition of Punch and Jurists, it reviews numerous cases which are not significant enough to merit discussion in that week's issue because they may only repeat and follow what other courts have already ruled. But those cases may be of great importance to a lawyer from a certain jurisdiction who wants to know the position of the judges in his or her Circuit. For that reason, we store information on those cases in a growing data bank covering the most current and controversial criminal law topics. These compilations are described under the feature button called Research Tools; and, over time, additional Surveys will be added.
The topics currently active include issues related to:go to top
